Albert of Brandenburg's motto SIC
OCULOS SIC ILLE GENAS SIC ORA FEREBAT, painted
on a mantle's folder (here horizontal), is also situated both in two engraving of
Albrecht Dürer
for the Cardinal, and in the silver double thaler emitted by him in 1524.
Except for the word genas,
that replaces manus, the
motto is
identical to the verse iii-490 of
Virgil's Aeneid. |
