As reported in the painter's letter, the fish
of gold substitutes the
Baby Jesus that the traditional Madonna holds in their arms. In old Greek the
letters of the word ICHTHYS (fish) are the initials of Iesous CHristos THeou
Yios Soter, or Jesus Christ Son of Saver God.
